The Eye-Opening Effects of Eye Cream

February 5, 2016 By patkaspian

The skin around our eyes is a very important component of our complexion.  As we age, this delicate skin can begin to develop under-eye circles, fine lines and wrinkles, and can begin to sag.  But the good news is that we can reduce the appearance of these detractors from younger-looking eyes with consistent application of eye serums or creams. But why use a product specifically designated for the eyes? Why can I not use my moisturizer for my eyes as well?  The delicate tissue around our eyes (also known as the “eye contour”) is approximately five times thinner than the skin on the rest of our face.  So when we use moisturizer on these areas, the larger molecular composition of the cream is not able to absorb into the thinner eye contour tissue.  We therefore don’t get the benefit of hydration, wrinkle-reduction or tightening of the eye contour skin. But not to worry, Jan Marini and Sothys have something to address every issue to restore younger-looking, more rested eyes.eyes

Eye Creams and Serums:

Transformation Eye Cream:                                                                                                   The Jan Marini Transformation Eye Cream contains a patented combination of growth factors and peptides to visibly improve texture and restore hydration in the eye area.  This will cause a major transformation and improvement to the appearance of the skin around your eyes.  It is recommended to use sparingly morning and evening to lower lids and across the brow bone for best results.

Age Intervention Eye Cream:                                                                                                 The Jan Marini Age Intervention Eye Cream will help soften, smooth, hydrate, firm and define the appearance of the eye area.  It will dramatically improve the appearance of wrinkles around the eye contour area, as retinol is an active ingredient to regenerate tissue. It is also recommended to use sparingly morning and evening to lower lids and across the brow bone for best results (same as the Transformation Eye Cream).

Sothys Multi Action Eye Contour:                                                                                            The Sothys Multi Action Eye Contour is just that- a “multi-action: formula that reduces lines & wrinkles, diminishes dark circles and puffiness, hydrates and protects.  It is formulated with Alfalfa extract and stimulates the synthesis of collagen and prevents breakdown of fibers.  The Multi Action Eye Contour should be used morning and evening to lower lids (under eye area) and across the brow bone.

 Treatment Solutions:

Luminate Eye Gel:                                                                                                                   The newly formulated Jan Marini Luminate Eye Gel is specifically designed for the delicate eye area, as it reduces the appearance of under-eye circles, crepey skin and fine lines and wrinkles.  You will also experience brighter and more radiant looking skin around the eyes with this amazing eye gel.  This product should be used sparingly morning and evening to lower lids only.  It is part of Jan Marini’s new Luminate line and has already received excellent reviews! Not an eye cream in the traditional sense, it should be used in conjunction with a hydrating eye cream (Transformation Eye or Age Intervention Eye Cream).

C-Esta Eye Repair Concentrate:                                                                                             The Jan Marini C-Esta Eye Repair Concentrate is an intensive antioxidant formula containing high concentrations of Vitamin C along with DMAE, CoEnzyme Q10 and other revolutionary topical agents to address multiple visible signs of aging around the eye.  It will help lift, firm and tone your eye contour area. (If only it could do that to our entire body…)  It is recommended to use sparingly morning and evening to lower eyelids and upper eyelids down to the crease, and can be used alone or with other Jan Marini eye creams for additional hydration.

Sothys Anti-Puffiness Gel:                                                                                                                  The Sothys Anti-Puffiness Gel is a unique roll-on applicator with a cooling effect that instantly reduces puffiness. Lupine seed extract decongests, improves micro-circulation and prevents the slackening of lower eyelids.  This product should be applied to the lower lids (under-eye) morning and evening for intensive results.

Since we know how important eye cream is for everyone, we are offering a special on all these wonderful options through the end of February.  With any skin care purchase, receive 20% off a Jan Marini  or Sothys eye cream of your choice (choose from the products listed above).  This is a great opportunity to improve the delicate tissue around your eyes and you will never be disappointed in the results these products offer.  We hope to see you soon!

Merci!

Legend of Sothys

February 2, 2016 By patkaspian

Have you ever noticed the symbol of SOTHYS on your serum’s label? Did you know the Egyptian-inspired figure has an intriguing story of her own? To ancient Egyptians, Sothys represented the goddess of the sky, the stars, of prosperity and fertility, even guiding the pharaohs into the afterlife. Her unparalleled beauty led them to name the most beautiful and luminous star in the heavens after her, capturing the attention of early Egyptians who worshiped her celestial and eternal beauty. I don’t know of any Hollywood lovelies who can claim that distinction today..

sothys-logosothys-logosothys-logosothys-logo

According to experts, “The Greeks called it Sothis, and in Latin it was called Sirius. Throughout all periods of recorded Egyptian history, this beautifully brilliant star, which we call Sothis (meaning, “Pure of Thrones”), was and still is the Star of Isis, the brightest star in the night sky. To locate Sothis (or Sirius), look for Orion’s belt, and then mentally draw a straight line down from that system and you will see Sothis shining brightly.”

The legend of Sothys follows the age-old tale of bewitching good looks causing the fall of empires (or close). It is said that the god of agriculture, Saturn, fell deeply in love with Sothys, as he gazed up at the night sky. This inevitably inspired the wrath and vengeance of Venus –  “Heav’n has no rage, like love to hatred turn’d/Nor hell a fury, like a woman scorn’d.”

As described in the SOTHYS literature, “Venus, Saturn’s lover, filled with fires of jealousy and out of vengeance destroyed the delicate and innocent star. For many centuries, the Universe was deprived of the luminous star. The saddened Saturn, torn with grief, filled the lands with his tears of sorrow for many days. Legend says that it then rained for 40 days and 40 nights.” ( Hmmm..seems to be the punishment of choice for those who err.)

And so, in response to Saturn’s beloved loss, the brilliant Sothys returned as a new star reigning over the Universe. Her gentle rays sweep over the lands and heavens radiating her beauty and magnetism to all women and men over the world .. Forever..

And so, when you apply your nightly SOTHYS serum or daily moisturizer, remember the legend of the graceful golden figure, as it evokes eternal beauty and radiance.

“Faithful to its mythical muse, the Sothys group passionately dedicates itself to beauty.” And at A French Touch, we remind you how beauty emanates from within- like resplendent starlight – keep glowing, mesdames!

Bonjour, Mes Amis!

As we approach fall, in the world of aesthetics we consider it prime time for Glycolic and Salicylic Peels to repair summer’s photo-damage and to prepare for the holiday season ahead. Resurfacing the skin with zero-downtime peels improves the skin’s texture, luminosity, and uniformity of tone.

Patricia giving a relaxing peel

So let’s cut to the chase — why peels? The reason peels rank among the top aesthetic procedure performed is that they are a simple,  affordable and effective method of  addressing  concerns like sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, clogged or enlarged pores, acne, and hyperpigmentation.  Gentle peels, like those offered at A French Touch Salon, also have the benefit of little to no downtime along with the beautiful results.

We offer our peels as individual services, but strongly recommend a Peel Series because they offer progressively deeper exfoliation, resulting in more visible results. Paired with a soothing SOTHYS facial at the end, your skin will look the best it’s ever looked!

We also strongly encourage the implementation or continuation of a healthy beauty routine (every morning and every night), to enhance the results of your peels.  Resurfacing your skin with a peel will make your skin care products penetrate more deeply and work harder for your skin, which will make you look and feel better and help to maintain the effects of your salon treatments.

The key, however, is to be sure that you’re selecting the right type of peel and level of intensity for your specific skin care needs.  We offer four different types of peel series at A French Touch, providing different levels of intensity to reveal beautiful, healthy skin. Remember that peels are recommended by dermatologists for their ability to exfoliate abnormal cells that can eventually lead to skin cancers.

facial treatment

The NEW SOTHYS Glysalac Peel

This is our gentlest peel series (perfect for those with sensitive skin or rosacea  who seek an introduction to peels). The Glysalac Professional Peel is formulated with Glycolic & Salicylic acid for an effective skin exfoliation within a professional facial protocol. It refines the texture of the skin, brings instant radiance, smoothes the skin and reveals a more bright and even complexion. This series has little to no downtime, and should be completed within three weeks for best results.

Jan Marini Glycolic Acid Peel with Green Papaya

For skin that is acclimated to glycolic acid (we recommend adding BIOCLEAR Glycolic Lotion or Cream one to two weeks prior to beginning this peel series), this series combines glycolic acid and proteolytic enzymes from green papayas to digest cellular debris and build-up and refresh your skin. The term ‘proteolytic’ refers to an enzymatic action–delivered through our calming, aromatic Skin Zyme Mask–that selectively digests dead or diseased protein material  while leaving living healthy cells intact. Unlike abrasive scrubs or other mechanical methods, this peel is gentle enough for all skin types but effective enough to yield noticeable results after three treatments.  This series has little to no downtime, and should be completed within three weeks for best results.

The Brilliance Retinol Peel Series

This peel is  more intense than the Enzyme peel, as it combines the power of glycolic acid (lifts and dissolves the layers of dead skin cells and congestion in the pores to reveal healthy, glowing skin) and the power of 1% Retinol (from Jan Marini’s Retinol Plus Mask) to treat fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, and other visible signs of aging.  These two key ingredients work beautifully together, because as the glycolic treatment dissolves debris and cellular congestive build-up in the pores, the Retinol is able to penetrate more deeply and stimulate collagen synthesis, cell strength, and evenness of skin tone and texture.  This series also has very little downtime, and should be completed within three weeks to capture the best results.

The Refine Peel Series

The Refine Peel Series is our most intensive treatment, but provides the most notable results in combating fine lines and wrinkles, acne, and pigmentation issues to reveal a noticeably firmer, brighter, softer and more supple you.  The combination of Lactic, Salicylic, and Citric acids, revitalize and refresh the skin by resurfacing the skin. We the apply a strong anti-aging cocktail of retinol and  anti-aging peptides to your freshly awakened skin, combined with Green Tea Extract and other calming agents whose anti-inflammatory action soothes.  The intensity of this peel requires that treatments be performed once per month, rather than per week, and may cause some flaking for three to five days after the procedure.  However, the aftermath still has far less peeling and downtime than more aggressive and expensive chemical peels, while offering comparable results.

Lovely SmilePeels are the best way to ensure that your skin is clean and healthy so that your skin care products can penetrate more deeply into the skin and yield quicker and more visible results.  Selecting a peel series that is the right strength and intensity for you is key, along with a solid home care regimen, so that you are getting the custom results you need for your skin concerns.

If you are interested in our peels, or if you just want to talk to Patricia about what type of peel would be best for your skin, call, stop by, or make an appointment! And don’t miss our current seasonal specials which include the NEW SOTHYS Soothing SPA Thermal Water Facial as the perfect complement to your series.

A bientot!

Patricia
